Flash Gordon uniform and equipment,
part of the original issue costumes for Captain Action. The set contains
a Face Mask, Ray Pistol, Compressed Oxygen, Guidance Gun, Helmet, Belt
with Holster and Algae-Activated Atmospheric Balance Generator.

Flash Gordon uniform and equipment
in ring style box, same equipment and layout as the standard box.
|
 |
Flash Gordon Video Matic "flicker"
ring, featuring a picture of Captain Action, and Flash Gordon on a purple
background.
|
 |
Flash Gordon uniform. One piece
Space suit with three snaps in the back, and five pockets (two on each
leg and one on the lower torso). There were two variations in the
suit. The two "snaps" on the lower torso on this example were not
present on all the versions of the suit. Overall a well designed
space suit, but it really could use a pair of gloves. The pair from
the Power
Pack do nicely.
|
 |
Emblems from the Flash Gordon Space
Suit. There is a name tag, American Flag, oxygen port and US Space
Team patch. The flag was attached to the left shoulder and tends
to fall off with time.
|
 |
Flash Gordon mask, white lipped version.
The hair is painted yellow over a white base. There was also a version
of the mask with pink lips. The pink lip version tended to be found
in the ring style boxes.
|
 |
Flash Gordon's Helmet. White
plastic with dark blue painted visor and silver accents. The visor
is molded onto the top of the helmet and is not moveable. The lower
portion of the helmet (the part which meets his shoulders) is removable;
otherwise the helmet would be nearly impossible to put on and take off
the figure.
|
 |
Flash Gordon's silver boots.
They are similar to the boots from the Power
Pack, although these have treads on the bottom and the ridges at the
top.
|
|
Belt with Holster and Algae-Activated
Atmospheric Balance Generator. Blue plastic with yellow and silver
highlights. Presumably the Atmospheric Balance Generator is the large
box in the back. Ideal must have had a blast coming up with the names
for these things. although the "Algae" part is a mystery to me.
|
 |
Ray Pistol, white plastic painted
silver. Classic style space sidearm designed to fit very well in
Captain actions hand. Interesting to note Ideal reused this gun as
part of their Darth Vader Clone "Knight of Darkness" (Who had a black body
from the Captain Action molds and real Captain Action boots). That
one was cast in gray plastic, and was unpainted.
|
 |
Compressed Oxygen and Guidance Gun.
White plastic with silver paint. The compressed oxygen is the part
with the handle while the guidance gun is the antenna portion which goes
on top. Neither part looks much like a gun or oxygen tank.
The compressed oxygen has two small thin pieces on the bottom which are
easily broken, as is the long thin guidance gun.

Flash Gordon with all his equipment
and Video Matic Ring. An outstanding shot of a very rare near mint
example of this set.
