Flicker Ring Facts:  The Captain Action Flicker Rings were a promotional item which were included with the second issue Ideal costume boxes.  The boxes proudly proclaimed "Its New! For You!  Wear your Official Ring " and included one "Video-Matic" ring.  They had a silver base which is marked "Hong Kong" on the bottom.  The inserts were made by "Vari-View" and showed one of two different pictures (the Captain or his alter ego) depending on viewing angle (making them difficult to photograph)  There never was a Sgt Fury flicker ring, since that set was discontinued after the initial run.  The second issue sets were only available in a flicker ring box (Spider-Man, Tonto, Buck Rogers and The Green Hornet).  These inserts later showed up in large blue bases in bubble gun machines in the 70s.  In the 80s there was a warehouse find of uncut flicker ring sheets.  There were 13 rings in all, the 13th being C/A's Logo, issued in the C/A figure box (interesting to note that there was no mention of this ring on the front of the box).
